Frequently asked questions

Does deep tissue massage hurt?

Deep tissue massage can feel intense on tight spots, but it shouldn’t hurt. Your therapist builds pressure gradually and adjusts it to your comfort, so speak up anytime if you want lighter or firmer work. Some patients feel mild soreness for 1 to 2 days afterward.

Is it normal to be sore after a massage?

It can be. Most people feel relaxed after a massage. Some patients feel mild soreness for 1 to 2 days, especially after deep tissue work. Many patients find that extra water and light stretching help.

Can massage, chiropractic care or acupuncture help back pain, neck pain or headaches?

They may help. Many patients come to us for low back pain, neck and shoulder tension and tension headaches. Your provider asks about your symptoms and health history, then recommends massage, chiropractic care, acupuncture or a combination. If you need imaging or other medical care, we’ll refer you.

Are you open on weekends?

Yes. Both clinics are currently open Monday to Friday, 8am to 8pm, and Saturday and Sunday, 8am to 6pm. Visits are by appointment.

Can I get a last-minute appointment?

Booking ahead is the best way to get your preferred time. For last-minute openings from cancellations, check the Hand in Health app or text us at 315-937-2300.

Can I use my HSA or FSA?

Yes. You can use your HSA or FSA card to pay for massage at Hand in Health.

Can I text you?

Yes. Text 315-937-2300 to reach either clinic about booking or questions.

Do you offer memberships?

Yes. More than 750 members use a monthly Hand in Health membership, with credits for massage, chiropractic care, acupuncture or personal training. See our membership page for current options.

What should I expect at my first visit?

Your first visit starts with a short conversation about your goals, your health history and the areas you want to work on. Your treatment then takes place in a private room, and you can ask questions or ask for changes at any time.
